Artarmon OC, Sydney Boys High School, Rank 2 English, Top 10 Maths, Debating, Pre-Uni

My name is Hayes. I got into Artarmon OC and Sydney Boys High School in 2022. Now, I am ranked 2nd for English in a top 5 school in New South Wales, as well as being top 10 for Maths.

I've seen it all. Parents sending their children to commercialised tutoring centres that don't really care about them, leaving them there for 6 hours on weekends, and then wondering why their child still fails the OC and Selective tests. I know the system, and I know how to help your child improve. Because I've been there myself, I never had to rely on these businesses to build my skills. My formula is designed to help any student get better, whether they failed the OC or absolutely aced it.

When I was in Year 6, I saw a lot of my peers in OC think they were too smart and stop studying. Now they are at local schools, wishing they had put in the work. On the flip side, I saw friends in mainstream classes working hard every day, and they ended up in top selective schools or with scholarships to prestigious private schools. The biggest lesson I learned is that it's never too late to give your child the opportunity to get into their dream school.

The most important step in improving your child's marks is their mindset. I will make your child realise that they are not doing this selective test for me, or for their parents. They are doing it for themselves. Just one or two years of hard work right now could result in them being in their dream school for 6 years. I think that's a pretty good trade.

My main goal is to make your child understand that and genuinely want to work hard to achieve their goals. With my teaching approach, your child will actually want to be in my class every week, instead of dreading it like they do with the big tutoring centres.

The biggest issue with kids taking the Selective and OC tests is silly mistakes. By the time they sit the exam, most kids know the content. But they still lose 30 or more marks just on silly errors. Why? Nerves and a lack of proper test experience. There are so many factors that can cause your child to miss out on their dream school, not because they don't know the material, but because they just aren't used to taking these tests. When I taught Pre-Uni STTC and OTTC classes, the number of silly mistakes my students made dropped significantly. My formula works. My past students, and my own results, are proof of that.
